David Simpson is the Executive Director of The Center for Nonprofit Information Technology Security. With extensive background in cyber security and policy, he directs the organizations technology and security research strategy and is responsible for the organizations overall technology and fundraising direction to speed national cyber security awareness and mitigation to our nations nonprofits. Mr. Simpson has been a key architect of the organizations strategy to define the areas of research, STEM initiatives and technology selection for the internal multi tenancy cloud solution offered to our participating nonprofit collaboration partners.
Mr. Simpson was the founding member of the Center for Nonprofit Information Technology Hosting in 2010, when, at the time assisting with cyber research programs for the Cyber Security Forum Initiative, and in parallel starting to build out Cloud based solutions for the federal government realized an immense gap in cyber research compared to national initiatives for mitigating cyber threats. Many discussions at the federal level discussed new policies for bringing forth a public and government initiative for information sharing, and news from financial and PII thefts were starting to emerge daily in the national news cycle.
During his career as a IT security and infrastructure Subject Mater Expert, Mr. Simpson has presented at several speaking engagements both domestically and internationally on topics of Cyber Security policy and practices. Mr. Simpson has worked with two Office of Inspector General Offices on IT audits and compliance programs. With over 20 years of experience Mr. Simpson holds an array of technology certifications meeting DOD 8570 IATIII, IAMIII, CNDSP and IASAEIII. With ITIL and several other project managements related certifications.
